Wishtress, By Nadine Brandes (BOOK REVIEW)

“...your past matters. It's the ink of your story. But it doesn't write your future.”

Myrthe was born with the ability to turn her tears into wishes. But when a granted wish goes wrong, she is cursed: the next tear she sheds will kill her. She must travel to the Well to break the curse before it can claim her life--and before the king's millitairen find her. To survive the journey, Myrthe must harden her heart to keep herself from crying even a single tear.

Bastiaan's powerful--and rare-- talent came in handy when he kidnapped the old king. Now the new king has a job for him: fin the Wishtress and deliver her to the schloss. But Bastiaan needs a wish of his own. He gains Myrthe's trust by promising to take her to the Well, but once he gets what he needs. he'll turn her in. As long as his growing feelings for the girl with a stone of heart don't compromise him.

“Even after I told him, he didn't see me as broken.
He saw me as Myrthe.
Just Myrthe.
I was enough for him.”

Wow, I don't really know what to say.... I loved the magical new world mixed with medieval times. Bastiaan was so sweet and I loved his role. You definitely get winter vibes so I recommend this for a winter/fall read.
My good friend Finlee recommended this to me. I have read almost all of Nadine Brandes's book, but never got to wishstress so I was intrigued.
The plot was great talents, a well, kings and queens, romance, forgiveness, guilt, humor. All the things you want in a book. The plot twists were really good considering, I loved the blanket scene in the trials that added humor. The authors writing I always look forward too, but whenever I saw it on my nightstand I felt like I HAD to read it and really didn't take time to enjoy it even though I spent a month reading it. That probably doesn't make any sense to you but it is true.
And now we get to the Romance.....Well I got to say Sven I was not expecting to be the main bad guy/good guyish. I thought myrthe only liked Bastiaan better but I was proven wrong.
Bastiaan charecter is really cool I mean he spent so much time in the stillness it was interesting to see how young he was described when he already lived a lifetime. It reminded me of 'Tuck everlasting' (A book I read awhile back. Don't recommend) Myrthe I think was a little self-centered (the main character usually is) but bastiaan was almost always thinking about how he could help her and she was just taking it all in instead of trying to help him too. I don't know, there was something missing, they saw each other for 2 days and after a month or so of being apart they ran into each other's arms like they they had known and loved each other for there whole life.
But all together it was a solid book and I definitely recommend it to Nadine Lovers
