Winter, by Marissa Meyer (BOOK REVIEW)
When Winter develops feelings for the handsome palace guard, Jacin, she fears the evil Queen will crush their romance before it has a chance to begin.
But there are stirrings against the Queen across the land. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even find the power to launch a revolution and win a war that's been raging for far too long.
Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter claim their happily ever afters by defeating Levana once and for all?
Wow, what a book. This is the 4th book in The Lunar Chronicles and it really surprised me. At first, it was kind of boring with the political side. But once I got about halfway, it got so much better. My first thoughts were, "Why is there an apple?" and, "How is Winter going to tie into the story?". And I was also a little intimidated my how big the book was. My friend group was all reading this, but my sister found the series.
The plot was really good. It was full of plot twists and funny comments. I loved how we got every characters perspective in different chapters. I did not only want Cinder's POV the entire time so, that was another plus.
Marissa Meyer is a really talented author and she really delivered. I loved her idea and the setting of the story. The humor and intensity that was applied was really good. She has a way of really expressing what is going on.
The romance, where to start?......Thorne and Cress are my favorite (obviously). Thorne has the humor, kindness, and focus that every boy needs to have in a book. He was so talented and sweet. Cress is so innocent and all of her fan-girling over him was so sweet. I love their relationship.
Cinder and Kai are cute and serious, in a way. Kai is political and powerful but, sweet at the same time. I found Cinder kind of feminist and thinking of herself a lot.
Scarlet and Wolf were sweet and weird at the same time! Wolf; I still have mixed feelings about and Scarlet is very girl-bossy. I don't know, after a few months i still can't decide.
And finally Winter and Jacin. Ahh. Winter is super sweet and crazy in the head and Jacin seemed more of a father figure, in a way; but they were really cute.
All of the romances were kind of rushed but the series is about a few months so it is better then 2 days. Altogether it was really good.
